Graduation. New beginnings. Job offers and decision making. Saying good-bye to friends and family. Moving. Meeting new neighbors and making new friends. Learning the ropes. Starting at the bottom and being low on the totem pole. Shopping for groceries. Finding shortcuts to places soon frequented. Alone, but free. All of these situations are occurring to those finishing high school, college and grad school. There are lots of changes happening, but yet it is an exciting time for venturing out, spreading their wings and flying with all that has been learned over the course of the years (and years…) of schooling. Change happens whether they want it to or not. They are not kids anymore, and often adulthood must be embraced sooner rather than later. The years of ‘training’ for independence are over and they must claim this new freedom as their own. Thrilling, yet scary. We are ‘in training’ in our spiritual lives as well. There are many types of graduations and changes, but the difference is that we never become truly independent in our spiritual lives – in fact, we become more dependent on God the more we learn. It’s a strange contradiction, but it is necessary in order to experience true freedom. The lessons that are learned each day as we submit to the Lord are strands of a rope that tether us securely to the King of the Universe. That line, which starts as a single cord when we accept salvation, becomes stronger and stronger with each acceptance of dependence on the Father. As we yield to Him, the fight for independence grows less, and our faith is in the One who calms the storms of life and who gave His life for me and the world. I am seeking to have total dependence on the Lord for the JP Knights Project. Things have not gone as planned or hoped. But God is in charge of this. I don’t necessarily know the next step, and I have made mistakes, but I am assured of this: He who is omnipotent and omniscient is holding my rope. I will wait on Him and pray for His will to accomplish what He has planned. Will you join me? This is HIS project 😊.

The easiest way to love yourself is to treat yourself like your own BFF. It might seem like it's easier to love others than to love yourself, but it's tough to build healthy relationships if you don't love yourself first.

Quite simply, this means you recognize your own self-worth and live your own life as honestly as you can.
